About Omidia / FAQ

What IS "omidia"?
"Omidia" stands for the "Original MIDI Archive." Technically, it was established on March 30, 2005.

Why?
Omidia has (at least) three major influences in defining its purpose: the Video Game Music Archive [VGMusic.com], the VGMusic.com Original Composition Archive (VGMOCA), and the Sound Synthesis Question & Answer Information Database (SSQNAID) [formerly synthsoundqna.com]. The VGMOCA served as an archive of original MIDIs posted at the VGMusic.com Forum while the SSQNAID served as a general knowledgebase for sound synthesis. Combined with the sentiments of VGMusic.com's archive of recreated MIDIs from video games, the ideas became one to create...Omidia, both an online MIDI archive of original compositions and general resource for MIDI-musicians!

How come there is no IRC applet here on the site?
Well, FuitadNET, as it is understood, does not appreciate IRC scripts running on their servers. We may, at a later date, use another site to function as an IRC applet zone for Omidia.net.

What is an "hourcomp"?
An hourcomp, also known as a "one hour composition (contest)" or OHC, is simply a n event in which composers write a song within certain guidelines and restrictions in (generally) an hour. Many variations of one hour composition contests exist. SoundTempest and VGMix have their own versions of these contests.

Run...for mayor?
Yes, yes. "Don't forget to run for mayor!" This is not really a serious suggestion. As personal and political events emerge and subside, the plausibilty of running for mayor in any town or city changes a great deal. Sometimes you need new ideas and sometimes you need to bring back the old ones. If you see it around the site, just think of it as a simple reminder that all contents within are subject to change.

Who is "Clone"?
Clone is Willow's doppelganger. It's used for testing purposes around the site.
